Security Forces
While
still under British Rule, Revenue men lived at Coyle's of
Brockagh, an officer, a sergeant and twenty men. They practised
across the river in Srath na bPol. The officer viewed them
across the river with field glasses. Four city police that
came to Cloghan Lodge were the first police in Glenfin.
The last R.I.C. (Royal Irish Constabulary) in Glenfin were:
| Sergeant Tansey |
Maxwell |
Maguire |
Knox |
Gilmartin |
Their barracks was on the site of the old Post Office in
Brockagh village. It was burned down one Saturday night after
they [the R.I.C.] had left it.
