Starting with an early morning cup of tea, the trek Begins...

The Crash Site

Here, it must be said that the following pictures of the crash site come to you courtesy of Mr John Conaghan, Trusk, Ballybofey. Due to the dedication shown by our webmaster and team-mate, Ann, we were lagging behind the others (as the ascent pictures show!). Without going into detail...we didn't quite make it. Unknown to us, we were actually less than 500ft from the crash site, but because we hadn't seen the group for hours, we decided to call it a day and head down. John Conaghan noticed our absence, and had the presence of mind to take pictures of the crash site itself.

Thank you John, you're a Prince among men!!!

Relief at last! The Descent!

The group line up for one last shot, after an even more welcome cup of tea and delicious sandwiches provided by Mrs Anne Homer (front centre). Standing beside Anne is Mr Joe McDermott, who remembers the plane crash clearly. Joe was a lad of 16 at the time, and helped with the rescue mission. Over the years, the McDermott home has welcomed many travellers from all over the world, interested in the 1944 plane crash.
