Not only is this young lady very pretty - she's pretty SMART
too!
Ten year old Katie, the daughter of Pat and Isobel (Gallen's
Bar and Lounge, Ballybofey) is a fifth class pupil at
Glencovitt N.S.
When the Navenny IT Centre opened next door to Gallen's,
Katie became very interested in computers and wanted to learn
more about them. She got her own PC at Christmas and enjoyed
working with it so much, sending email messages to her friends
etc., that she soon persuaded her parents to enrol her on
one of the ECDL courses being run by the IT Centre.
Katie attended every class. Through her hard work and dedication
she soon reached a high standard, delighting her tutor, Sarah
Conaghan, by easily managing to achieve her European Computer
Driving Licence (ECDL).
The ECDL is an internationally recognised qualification in
computer skills. It is designed to give employers and those
in recruitment a standard against which they can measure competence-
not in theory, but in practice. With the proliferation of
computers into modern life, the seven modules of ECDL will
equip anyone who passes them to participate actively and fully
in the information society.
Young Katie plans to work somewhere in the IT sector when
she leaves school, and with such a good start, the sky's the
limit.
Many congratulations from all at Finn Valley Online.
