As we climb these stone steps, we are led along a narrow path, hidden from beneath by a canopy of dense, green foliage. Following the path through heather and bracken, we enter into what must be one of Donegal's most secret places...

In days of old, it was to this quiet sanctuary that people from miles around came in their droves, to hear Mass and worshop at the Altar, sheltered beneath this craggy rock.

Is beag an rud is buaine ná an duine
The smallest of things outlives the human being

This simple reminder of the transience of life serves to reminds us that we leave behind us things that will not only outlive us, but will outlive generations to come. Many of the small relics placed on and around the altar stone will undoubtedly outlive those who left them there...as will the altar itself.
