MOTORING IN DONEGAL

With a coastline of 400 miles and a hinterland of mountains, moors and glens, Donegal presents an ever-changing spectacle to the motoring holidaymaker. There are a number of signposted motoring circuits, and the following is a brief resume of some of the more popular motoring tours of the county.

INISHOWEN 100 Signposted circuit of the vast Inishowen Peninsula, including the Gap of Mamore and Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point.
FANAD SCENIC TOUR Signposted circuit of the Fanad Peninsula, including the Knockalla Coast Road, overlooking Ballymastoker Bay.
ATLANTIC DRIVE Signposted circuit of the Rossguill Peninsula, past much-photographed Tra na Rosann.
LOUGH ESKE DRIVE North of Donegal Town with magnificent lakeside views of contained in a narrow valley of Blue Stack Mountains.
COAST ROAD Costal route from Bundoran via Ballyshannon and Rossnowlagh to Donegal Town, then west through Killybegs to Glencolumcille, continuing via Glengesh Pass to Ardara and Glenties, crossing Gweebarra Bridge into the Rosses and dungloe, then via the Falcorrib Coast Road to Burtonport and the Gaelteacht to Bunbeg and Gweedore, continuing past Bloody Foreland and Gortahork to Dunfanaghy.
