Bealach Na Gaeltachta
(The Gaeltacht Way) |
Bealach na Gaeltachta is a set of long distance
walking routes in the Donegal Gaeltacht and Islands
which have been developed to the standard of the
National Way Marked Way. The long distance walking
route is between 50 - 70kms in length and encompasses
mountain, riverside, seaside and forrest habitats.
The scenery is spectacular and walkers have an
excellent opportunity to sample the uniqueness
of the Irish language, heritage and culture of
the region.
Route Details:
Four circular routes each route between
50-70kms.
Slí an Earagail: An Fál Carrach,
Gort aChoirce, Gaoth Dobhair, Dún
Lúiche.
Slí na Rosann: An Clochán Liath,
Ailt aChorráin, Anagaire, Croithlí
Slí na Finne: Baile na Finne, Cloghan,
An Choimín
Slí Cholmcille: Ard a Ratha, Cill Chartha,
Gleann Cholmcille.

The Blue Stack is a fully Way Marked
Way, starting in Pettigo on the Northern Ireland
border and reaches to Ardara on the Atlantic Coast.
The way is 110kms and has local link routes from
towns and villages, where accommodation and entertainment

| Errigal - Donegals
Highest Mountain |
Errigal is a graceful quartzite cone,
which at 2466ft/751m, is Donegals highest
mountain. Climbing Errigal should take about four
and a half hours, but the time for descent depends
on peoples ability to walk on the loose rocks.
